Sometimes
you wanna go where nobody knows your name. Hawthorne's Knot is that
kind of place. Tucked beneath an old cathedral at the corner of Gregori
Square in Boston is a bar with no softly glowing light in the window.
There are no windows. Only a carved wooden sign bearing
the circular symbol of the Chalice Well marks the entrance. Nobody who
belongs there needs directions. Nobody who would need directions is
welcome.
This
isn't just any bar. Werewolves, vampires, leprechauns, demons, angels...
the flotsam and jetsam of an underground world linger here. In the shadows
around the corner tables, curled over weathered stools, they can forget
the world through which they must move in silence... in secret.
Plus
the buffalo wings are spectacular and they have Gregorian Karaoke every
second Friday of the month!
The
towering stone spires above are home to the headquarters of a society
dedicated to protecting the most sacred objects on earth. They are sworn
to defend humanity from the darker side of a world existing alongside
our own. When vampires prey on the innocent, when werewolf packs run
wild, when ancient evil rears its head, The Guardians of the Chalice
Well stand between the darkness and us. They work in silence and shadow.
They walk beside us, unseen. They battle every nightmare that goes bump
in the night.
Then
they have a beer.
